MR Gra­ham Paul Kew Smith, of Newchurch Road, Stack­steads, died on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 14, at Royal Black­burn Hos­pi­tal, aged 73.

Gra­ham owned his own print­ing busi­ness for many years in Burn­ley be­fore mov­ing it to Stack­steads four years ago. He re­tired due to ill health ear­lier this year.

In his spare time he en­joyed pho­tog­ra­phy, bird watch­ing, walk­ing, steam trains and he loved hol­i­days in Scot­land.

Gra­ham had a keen in­ter­est in na­ture and loved to watch all TV pro­grammes about wildlife.

Part­ner of Hazel, he was fa­ther to Philip, grandad to James, brother of Pe­ter, fa­ther-in-law to Alexan­dra, and broth­erin-law to Va­lerie and Pauline.

A cel­e­bra­tion of life ser­vice was con­ducted by Mr David Ire­land at Burn­ley Cre­ma­to­rium on Wednes­day, Oc­to­ber 24.

DR Michael Yelland, of Ash­worth Lane, Water­foot, died at High­field Hall Care Home, Hasling­den, on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 15, aged 79.

Michael was a re­tired ICI re­search chemist and bi­ol­ogy teacher.

He en­joyed jazz and as a young man he was in­ter­ested in cy­cling, hik­ing and weightlift­ing.

Hus­band to Mary Yelland, he was fa­ther to Phillip and Damian Yelland and Claire Quinn, Sarah Yelland, Char­lotte Woods, Clau­dia Yelland, Iso­bel Yelland and the late Rose­marie Yelland.

He also leaves sons-in­law Paul Quinn and Kris Woods, daugh­ter-in-law Anita Yelland, grand­chil­dren Bethany Quinn, Fran­cis Michael Quinn, Kather­ine (Katie) Quinn, Eleanor Quinn, Natalia Yelland, Mia Yelland, Alanna Yelland, Os­car Michael Woods and spe­cial fam­ily friend Jus­tine Park­house.

A fu­neral ser­vice con­ducted by Fr Tony McBride was held at St James the Less, Rawten­stall on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 23.

MRS Alma Eliz­a­beth Black­burn, of Greens Lane, Helmshore, died in the Royal Black­burn Hos­pi­tal on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 15, aged 93.

Alma, wife of the late Fred, leaves son Ken and his wife, and grand­chil­dren Chris and Han­nah.

She spent her work­ing life as a weaver at L Whit­taker and Sons in Hasling­den.

Alma was a keen gar­dener and loved spend­ing time tend­ing her plants and flow­ers.

The fu­neral will take place on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 29, at 1.40pm, at Ac­cring­ton Cre­ma­to­rium, with a ser­vice led by the Rev­erend Stephen Brown.

MR David War­bur­ton, of Gras­mere Road, Hasling­den, died on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 16, at Royal Black­burn Hos­pi­tal, aged 76.

He also en­joyed go­ing on hol­i­day here and abroad.

The fu­neral will take place on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 30, with ser­vice at St James Par­ish Church, Hasling­den at 2pm, fol­lowed by in­ter­ment at Hasling­den Ceme­tery, of­fi­ci­ated by Rev David Stephen­son.
