Children of the 60s

-

IN our weekly Nostalgia feature we publish a set of photographs shared by our regular nostalgia contributor, Peter Fisher.

This week, we take a look back to find out what the children of Rossendale got up to in the 60s.

Our first picture (top left) is a shot of a group of children during a visit to Bacup Fire Station.

In our next picture (top right), Mrs Marie Mulcahy of Bacup holds her baby, Darren, who was the first baby to be born in the new maternity unit at Rossendale General.

Next (right), we have a photograph of six young girls who took part in the Festival of Queens in aid of the National Children’s Home at Longholme Methodist School.

Our bottom right picture shows children from St Mary’s, Rawtenstall, working together to create a model for the Missionary Exhibition.

Our last picture of the week (bottom left) shows Vivien Clegg, Haslingden, a member of the Young Readers Club. b.

Although these pictures were taken in the 60s, exact dates of each picture are unknown.

If you have any pictures you would like e us to feature on our Nostalgia page, send them to communities@ menmedia.co.uk.
