Latest defibrillator arrives

-

A NEW Community Public Access Defibrillator (cPAD) has been installed on the Aldi store at New Hall Hey Retail Park, Rawtenstall.

This brings to 26 the number of cPADs under the guardianship of Community Defibs for Rossendale. It was placed in a housing unit situated on the external wall of the store for use 24/7 by the general public in the event of a cardiac arrest.

It was funded by a donation from Walmersley Conservative Club, Bury, in thanks for training given by Rossendale Community First Responders; a Neighbourhood Forum grant; an anonymous donation; a donation from Rossendale Tea Bar Service and a fundraiser run by staff at Marks & Spencer Food Hall on the retail park.

Just six days after the defibrillator unit was installed it was deployed to an incident of chest pain. Fortunately, it was not required and was replaced by the Community First Responder who attended.

Community Defibrillators for Rossendale are grateful to the community for their support. An awareness event will be held at the Aldi on Friday, November 2 from 11am.
