CASH WOULDN’T GO TO COUNCIL

-

IN her recent comments about the AAAW Empty Homes scandal (‘ Police probe may take another 18 months’, October 12) Councillor Barnes explained about the delays of the police investigation.

She makes illinformed statements saying that the Council may recover monies from the Proceeds of Crime Act.

The monies recovered under this legislation goes to the Government and the police.

She makes these statements but cites the police investigation when the public ask her specific questions about the AAAW saga.

It’s all well and good trying to draw a line underneath and try to forget it happened, but they say they have learnt lessons. Really?

Former Town Hall still not occupied; no Stopping Up Order and no Bus Station.

Councillor Alyson Barnes told Rossendale Free Press on 24th February 2017: “The demolition starts in March 2017 and the final completion date for the bus station is the end of May next year ( 2018).”

The Council’s continuing inability to efficiently run major schemes shows no sign of coming to an end anytime soon. Michael Pickup Newchurch Road Rawtenstall
