New signposts point the way
VISITORS to Rawtenstall town centre will find it easier to get around and discover things to do thanks to refurbished signposts.
The town’s eight traditional fingerposts point to popular attractions such as the ski slope, the shops and the market. They were in a poor state of repair – with some fingers pointing the wrong way or to places which no longer exist, or having illegible text and missing fingers.
Three new fingerposts have also been installed at the East Lancashire Railway, McDonald’s and The Whitaker museum.
Rossendale council leader Coun Alyson Barnes said: “Rawtenstall has wonderful tourist attractions, along with a great range of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for visitors to find their way around – and also help them to discover attractions which they maybe don’t realise are here.”
