Plans submitted for ‘fences row’ fields

-

PLANS have been submitted for a before-and-after-school club in a primary school’s playing fields.

Mr Stephen Langridge has applied to Rossendale council for full planning permission to erect a single storey building ancillary to school in the playing field at Helmshore Primary School, Gregory Fold.

The building would accommodate the primary’s Acorns club which currently operates in the main school building, for up to 48 children.

In planning documents, the applicant states: “As education needs and methods have developed, the pressures on space within the existing building have increased.”

The application states that it would allow the school to establish a permanent library facility.

It adds that the current ‘intermittent’ drop off and pick up parking arrangements would be unchanged.

Lancashire county council highways had asked for a parking plan.

The school has been subject to a longrunning dispute over fences erected to separate the school area from public footpaths.

The plans add: “It is the school’s intent to maintain and improve access to the school field.”
