Patient approach reaps reward for Kyle

HALLMARK SECURITY FIRST DIVISION BACUP................................ 4 DAISY HILL ...................... 2 SHELDAN KEAY BACUP Borough manager Brent Peters heaped praise on his side following their 4-2 win at home to Daisy Hill on Saturday.

Goals from Kyle Brooks, Nicholas Alexander, Anthoyn Hall and Micha Evans earned the home side the win at the Brian Boys West View Stadium, despite twice being pegged back by Daisy Hill in the first half.

It made it back to back wins for Bacup and was their second straight game scoring four goals, and Peters was delighted with the performance.

“To score early is always an excellent time to score, as this settles the team down and gives us a platform to go out and express ourselves,” he said.

“However not once, but twice in quick succession from us taking the lead, we conceded down the same side, with the same defender being involved with both goals. His isolated performance for me must not be held against the rest of the team who I thought did well. The excellent thing was that the rest of the boys pulled him through and it really got him out of the mess that he had got us in.

“I was pleased for young Kyle Brooks as he patiently waited for his chance to start the game following his past few being on the substitutes bench, but he stepped into the role due to the unavailable Darcy O’Connor.

“He did really well and to cap a very good performance he opened the scoring for us by being bright around the box, so he was a big plus.

“I am pleased by the way Nicholas Alexander has settled into midfield especially with his goal contribution which is two in three, and I was also pleased for Micah Evans who got himself on the scoresheet. His work rate and contribution in other areas of the pitch was excellent, so to score was the cherry on the top.

“Whilst it was a good team performance, I must congratulate Anthony Hall, as at times these players hear me talk about picking up the baton and running with it, and if ever a player took the game to the opposition, it was Anthony Hall in the second half.

“Anthony was exceptional in the second half. It is all about confidence and belief, and both myself and my coach Dave Felgate will be giving him every encouragement to have that confidence and belief. He has got it, but we just need to see it consistently.” ●● Kyle Brooks
