Sri Lanka all-round star signs for Bacup

BACUP Cricket Club has announced the signing of a new profession­al.

They have recruited 31-year-old Sri Lankan all rounder Sachithra Serasinghe for the 2019 season.

Sachithra, a right handed aggressive batsman and right arm off spinner, has 13 years of first class cricket experience in his own country and currently plays for Dambulla.

In first class matches he has scored 7,281 runs at a very healthy average of 44.12 with 19 centuries to his name and a highest score of 209.

In addition he has taken 239 wickets at 28.78.

He has represente­d his country in Under 19 Test Cricket and has played for Sri Lanka A.

Sachithra is also an experience­d league profession­al having played for Normanby Hall in the North Yorkshire and South Durham Premier League, Littleboro­ugh in the Pennine League and Bradshaw in the Bolton League.

He has also made a couple of appearance­s in the Lancashire League as a sub profession­al and in 2017 scored 171 not out for Accrington against Colne.

A club spokesman said: “Our thanks go to Gary Hunt and CricIntro for their quick, efficient and profession­al service.”
