Thieves steal cash machine
THIEVES tried to make off with a haul of cash after cutting through shutters to steal a cash machine.
Police said four offenders forced entry into the Haslingden Co-Op store on John Street at around 2.35am on Wednesday, November 28.
They then dragged the ATM outside with some chains attached to an orange Transit van causing ‘significant damage’ to the store entrance.
Officers said they eventually left the van with the cash machine hanging out of it and made off.
DS Amanda Bleazard, from East CID, has appealed for information.
She said: “Thankfully the group didn’t manage to get away with any money, however, they did cause a lot of damage.”
A Co-Op spokesperson said: “There was an unsuccessful attack on the ATM in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
“The store has since reopened to serve the community. We would appeal for anybody with any information or who may have seen anything to come forward and contact the police.”
