ONS figures reveals property price boom in Rossendale (‘House price rise is fifth fastest in UK’, November 30):
Simon Topps: Don’t worry house buyers, Brexit will bring them back down again for at least 4-5 years.
Chris Daniel: It doesn’t really matter though because when it comes to moving, everyone else’s has gone up by the same amount.
Ric Kenyon: The only people to really benefit are the older generation ‘downsizing’ and investors, the real losers are yet again first time buyers
Donna Waite: Too many estate agents bumping the prices up to win clients business. The houses aren’t worth it! But if people want to pay it they will!
MC Auty: Let’s hope mine booms back up the price I paid 11 years ago!
Jo Warwick: Maybe because building quotas are only at 50% of demand ..
Jimmy Ainsworth: It’s alright, I’m sure Jake’s enthusiastic support for a no-deal Brexit will take house prices down a peg or two. As well as create queues for black market insulin supplies, but you can’t have it all, eh?
COUNCIL leaders and ministers have been briefed about plans for a rail link to the Valley (‘Rail link fight is taken to Westminster’, November 30):
Andy Kyme: Anyone know what the ELR concerns are? Presumably they’ll lose loads of tourist money?
Rick Woodall: Maybe we should have Britain’s only commercial steam railway lol
Jake Atkinson: I can’t see how this could work with the ELR maintaining operations at the current levels. They are operating locos virtually 365 days a year. Joe Eaton: Fantastic news! Jools Richardson: Fingers crossed. It really needs to happen.
Emma O’Connor: I’d pay for it to be done
