Kind-hearted pupil penny pinchers raise thousands

Rossendale Free Press - - News -

KIND-HEARTED pupils from 32 schools helped raise £4,500 for Rossendale Hospice.

The charity’s annual ‘Inter-School Penny Pinching Challenge’ gave each school six weeks to fill their boxes with all the pennies they could.

Haslingden High School, undefeated in the last five years, successfully defended their crown with Helmshore Primary winning the primary school category for the second successive year.

Little Stars were pre-school/nursery winners.

Fundraiser Joanna Williams said it was a ‘fantastic’ success.

She said: “One child in particular raised a massive £55.51 to contribute to Cribden House School’s total. Also, the children from Edenfield C of E Primary School raised money as part of their Harvest Festival.”

She added: “We would like to thank all the staff and the families.

“In addition, the challenge would not be possible without the support of our volunteers who deliver and collect the boxes to the schools and count all the pennies we receive.

“We’d also like to thank Farrow & Farrow Estate agents for their continued support with the challenge.” ●● Helmshore Primary School with Hospice Fundraiser Joanna Williams and Emma Farrow, of Farrow & Farrow Estate Agents ●● Haslingden High School’s Charity Team with Hospice Fundraiser Joanna Williams ●● Little Stars Pre-School with staff and hospice fundraiser Joanna Williams
