Thanks for your support

THE organisers of the Rossendale Lamp Post Poppy Appeal have thanked businesses and individuals for their support in helping to raise a total of £14,123 for the Royal British Legion.

The amount exceeded all expectations which would not have been possible without the tireless help and support of volunteers.

Janet King, of the appeal, said: “A special thanks was due to Rod and Jill Bevan, of the Edgeside & District Community Partnership, and Rossendale council for their help and support and the various community projects around Rossendale, the Lythe and Pickup families for the renovation of the Cowpe Memorial.”

She also thanked local businesses who donated, painted and placed in situ the two ‘Waterfoot Tommies’, Rossendale Civic Pride who maintain the gardens around Rossendale and Trickett’s Memorial Garden, schools who participated in the poetry and art competitions. ●● Christine Moffatt (left) and Janet King with their lamppost poppies
