Youngsters join the festive fun
ALLEY schools and nurseries celebrated Christmas with festive parties, performances and getting in the spirit of giving.
Sharneyford Primary School pupils took part in Cards for Kindness, a festive initiative to reduce loneliness among older people.
The children delivered Christmas cards to two Bacup nursing homes - Olive House and Burwood House.
Ash Cottage in Edenfield, Cherry Tree Lodge in Rawtenstall, Fern Hill House in Bacup, Langley House Trust in Edenfield, and Turfcote Nursing Home in Haslingden were among other homes to take part in the scheme.
Fifty children aged two to four from Good as Gold Childcare in Waterfoot starred in Olaf’s Christmas Adventure.
Olaf, Anna and Elsa travelled around different houses looking for Christ- mas traditions.
These included pulling Christmas crackers, sending Christmas cards and eating Christmas pudding.
At the very last house they found Mary and Joseph, who were visited by the shepherd and three wise men.
After the play the children had their Christmas Party and were entertained by Jo Jingles before Father Christmas arrived with presents for everyone.
Students and staff enjoyed a hectic week at Haslingden High School with a host of celebrations.
Some 40 hampers were given out to neighbours and Rochdale Dogs Home. Charity Emmeline’s Pantry received £100 along with new toys and women’s presents.
Goodies, coats and hats were given to homeless project Coffee for Craig. Foodbank RAFT, Accrington charity Maundy Relief and a local women’s refuge also benefited from their generosity.
Children at Water Primary School celebrated Christmas with a visit to the cinema to see ‘Nativity Rocks’.
Their traditional Christmas dinner was followed by a party with games and a visit from Santa.
All children received presents and Santa was presented with a gift by Jackson Harris-Cox.
A talent show concluded the week, won by Eryn Wilkinson and Harry Greenwood, from class 1, who performed a dancing duet.
