AHABITUAL criminal who has appeared in court more than 100 times has admitted burgling or attempting to break into two primary schools and a business.

Peter Everall, 45, appeared at Burnley Crown Court to enter pleas on three counts of burglary and one of attempted burglary.

Everall, of Hud Rake, Haslingden, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary on Sunday, October 21 at All Saints CE Primary School, Church Street, Clayton-le-Moors.

He also admitted stealing money after breaking into St James’ Lower Darwen CE Primary School on Saturday, October 13 and another burglary at Anglo Recycling Technology Ltd at Bridge End Mills, Whitworth on September 28.

Appearing via video link from Preston Prison where he is remanded in custody, Everall pleaded not guilty to a fourth alleged burglary at Hargreaves House respite centre for disabled chil- dren, Thwaites Road, Oswaldtwistle.

Emma Keyhoe, representing the Crown said that the pleas were acceptable to the prosecution and the Hargreaves House allegation would remain on file.

No further details about the offences were revealed during the short hearing.

In November 2017 Everall was jailed after appearing in court for the 98th time.

On that occasion he was caught loading a red Corsa with stolen tools from Broadhead Farm.

When confronted by the landowner, he told him he was ‘just picking up the tools for the lads on the job’ and then began ‘pleading’ and offering him money not to call the police.

His previous 100 court appearances relate to more than 200 offences.

In November last year judge Beverley Lunt said he had not taken his ‘chance’ to stop offending.

Burnley Crown Court heard that Everall had previously been convicted following a burglary at Pennine Telecom in Bury, and sentenced to 16 weeks in prison by magistrates.

Judge Lunt said: “I note in December 2016 you were given the opportunity of a suspended sentence, by February 2017 you had breached it by committing three more burglaries and it was activated. You appealed that. And they gave you the chance and suspended the sentence.

“It’s now got to the stage all the courts can do is try and protect people and property from you.”

Judge Jonathan Gibson ordered the probation service to produce an updated report on Everall and remanded him in custody until Friday, January 11 when he will be sentenced.
