Man taken to hospi­tal af­ter New Year’s Day smash

A MAN was hos­pi­talised with sus­pected leg in­juries af­ter a ‘se­ri­ous’ col­li­sion.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to Mar­ket Street in Whit­worth at around 6.45pm on Tues­day, Jan­uary 1.

The col­li­sion in­volved a Fiat Stilo and a Toy­ota Yaris.

A Lan­cashire Po­lice spokesper­son said: “One man was taken to hospi­tal with sus­pected leg in­juries.

“The road was closed while emer­gency ser­vices at­tended.”

A 37-year-old man from Bacup was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of driv­ing while un­fit through drink/drugs and has been re­leased un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
