Knifemen threaten punter at town bar
TWO men armed with a knife and hammer threatened a bar customer.
Police were called to The Lounge on Deardengate in Haslingden at around 11pm on Monday, December 31 to reports of a robbery at the bar.
A 26-year-old man was threatened and suffered some ‘superficial cuts’ during the incident.
Bosses at The Lounge said they are ‘extremely
shook up and upset’ and stressed that the incident has ‘absolutely nothing to do with any of the staff ’.
In a post on Facebook, they said: “There are a lot of rumours going around about an incident at The Lounge on New Year’s Eve.
“The incident has absolutely nothing to do with any of the staff, or the bar and that although the police may have attended the location it is not due to us and that we have no involvement with the police in relation to it.
“All I can ask is for people to stop contacting us regarding it as we have NO involvement in any way with what happened.
“We are extremely shook up and upset, and can only apologise for the ones that witnessed this.”
Lancashire Police said they believe it to be a ‘targeted attack’ and no arrests have been made.
Nothing was stolen during the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We were called at around 11pm on December 31 to reports of a robbery at a
bar on Deardengate, Haslingden.
“We attended and found two offenders – one armed with a knife and one with a hammer – had entered the bar and made threats towards a customer.
“A 26-year-old man who was threatened suffered some superficial cuts during the incident.
“No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
