MR Malcolm Rhodes, of Turfcote Nursing Home, Haslingden, died on Sunday, January 6, aged 83.

Malcolm retired as Gas Engineer after 43 years.

He was a member of Bacup Cricket Club as well as well as playing for them. He enjoyed holidays at home and abroad, especially Majorca.

He had a wife of 61 years Shirley, daughter Yvonne and her partner Dave, late son Gary, four grandchild­ren and their partners and three great-grandchild­ren.

A celebratio­n of life service will take place on Thursday, January 24 at 10.40am, conducted by the minister Kirsty Goodison, at Knight & Boys Chapel of Rest, Stackstead­s, followed by burial at Bacup Cemetery at 11.30am.

AUDREY WHITTAKER

AUDREY Whittaker, of Rawtenstal­l, died following a short illness in Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, January 9, aged 87.

Audrey, born in Blackpool, was the daughter of Bill and Ethel Brown.

Much loved wife of the late Donald they were green grocers together for many years on Rawtenstal­l Market.

She later worked in the Cancer Research shop on Bank Street as a volunteer until her passing.

Mother of Peter, Janis and Esme, grandma and great-grandma she will be sadly missed by them all.

Donald has been waiting for her a long time.

They are together forever now.

Her funeral service and cremation will be held at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Tuesday, January 22, at 3pm.

Donations may be made in memory of Audrey to Cancer Research.

ERIC HORNE

MR Eric Horne, of Townsend Street, Waterfoot, died on Tuesday, January 8, at Blackburn Royal Hospital, aged 66.

Eric was a stock controller before ill health caused by a stroke.

His hobbies included the T.A, photograph­y, badminton, football and rock climbing.

He was a member of the TA, the Red Cross, Accrington Photo Club and was librarian for Water Band.

Husband to Norma, father to Amanda and Susan, father-in-law to Rob and Lawrance, grandfathe­r to Casey, Tommy, Jenny and Lillie-Grace, brother to Alan, and nephew to Betty, he also leaves nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, in-laws and extended family.

The funeral will take place on Friday, January 25, at 1.40pm, at Burnley Crematoriu­m, please wear a splash of colour.

BARBARA KYME

MRS Barbara Kyme (Hooley) of Crawshaw Hall Nursing Home, formerly of Bacup, died peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Saturday, January 12, aged 79.

A service was due to be held at the Chapel of Rest on Thursday, January 17 at 10am, followed by cremation at Burnley, at 10.40am, conducted by Mr Peter Cox.

Born in Bacup where she lived most of her life, Barbara worked in the family electrical shop, on Market Street, for over 40 years with her late husband Harry Hooley.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, holidays abroad, attending sheep dog trials and outdoor activities.

She leaves her husband of 25 years Alf, daughter Jeanette, son Mark and his wife Denise, grandson Fraser, granddaugh­ters LoriMae and Harriette, great-grandchild­ren Ella, Oakley, Amelie, Jax, Jasper and Nolan, sisters Joyce, Beryl and Ann, brother Dennis, nephews, nieces and many friends.

Family flowers only please with donations in lieu to the Alzheimer’s Society if so desired.

MAUREEN PRICE

MRS Maureen Price, of Holt Street, Waterfoot, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 9, aged 74.

Maureen owned the M&M General Store in Newchurch for 30 years along with her husband Max. In her spare time she loved listening to music, and in her younger years she was part of an amateur dramatics society.

Wife of Max, mother to Jackie, Mandy, Karen and Max, mother-in-law to Cameron, Steve and Sam, she also leaves nine grandchild­ren and five great-grandchild­ren.

The funeral will take place on Friday, January 25, at St Peter’s RC Church in Newchurch, at 10am, conducted by Father Boast, followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 11.30am.

SHEILA SINGLETON

MRS Sheila Singleton, formerly of Lacey Court, died on Friday, January 11, at Haslingden Hall, Haslingden, aged 83.

Devoted to her family she was the wife of the late Robert, and leaves three daughters Judy, Carol and Sara, seven grandchild­ren and three greatgrand­children.

Sheila was one of 13 children and is survived by her sister Judy.

Sheila came to Haslingden over 45 years ago. At one time she was proprietor of The Savoy Cafe, Haslingden.

She played darts for local ladies darts teams and enjoyed a game of bingo.

Her funeral will take place on Tuesday, January 22 with service and cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 1.40pm, officiated by Rev Stephen Brown.

MARK NICHOLSON

MR Mark Nicholson passed away at Fairfield General Hospital on Monday, January 7, aged 58.

Mark was an incredible person, a loving husband to his wife Linda and an amazing father to his sons Joe and Sam.

He loved his football and was an incredibly talented musician who loved to pick up a guitar. Mark will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him!

His funeral will take place on Friday, January 18 when a service will be held at Edenfield Parish Church led by Rev Andy Lindop at 10.15am followed by cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 11.40am, followed by a wake at the Rostron Arms in Edenfield.

Family flowers only please, however, donations if desired in lieu of flowers will be gratefully received in memory of Mark to the Intensive Care Unit at Fairfield General Hospital via the funeral director Sharon Aspinall for Agápe Funeral Service, ForgetMe-Not Chapel, Schofield Street, Waterfoot.

JUNE BAMBER

JUNE Bamber died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 2.

Loving wife of the late Roy, she will be missed by step-children Christine and John, Pauline and families and children Christine, Michael and David.

June’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 21, at 11am in St Wilfred’s Church, Ribchester, followed by interment in the churchyard.
