-

TRIATHLON GRAEME COURTNEY ROSSENDALE

Triathlon club members celebrated the season’s successes at their annual awards evening on Saturday.

The Sykeside Country House hotel hosted members and their partners and gave everyone the chance to dress up in something other than sportswear.

Following a delicious four course meal presentations took place with a number of categories up for grabs.

Coaches and committee members cast their votes a number of weeks ago based upon performances throughout the triathlon season.

Male triathlete of the year award went to Michael Hilton for his continuous improvement throughout the season which culminated in an outstanding finish time at the Outlaw X half Ironman triathlon in September.

Female triathlete of the year went to Michael’s wife, Francine. Francine also competed in the Outlaw X half Ironman triathlon but had a poor swim and her race was nearly over before it had started. Despite this setback Francine never gave up and went on to complete the bike and run sections.

A special achievement award went to swim coach Karen Smith for the absolutely awesome swim she completed this summer. Karen swam solo from Jersey to France, a distance of 18 miles.
