MICK LORD
MR John Michael Lord, aka ‘Mick’, of The Ferns, Bacup, sadly passed away in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, April 22, aged 59. Taken too soon by COVID-19.
The family of John Michael Lord wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the NHS, and specifically the Critical Care Unit at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Mick was born in Rossendale General on July 21, 1960 and first lived at 7 The Square, Bankside Lane, Bacup. Moving as a child to Meadows Avenue, Bacup where his mum and brother still live.
He graduated from Fearns High School where he met his wife Denise as childhood sweethearts.
Mick was married to Denise on December 27, 1980; they were due to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary later this year.
Mick worked as a Landfill Engineer for The Environment Agency, and was highly respected in his industry.
He enjoyed the outdoors, was a keen gardener, loved his music and was a talented cook.
Mick is survived by wife Denise; children Richard, Claire and Phillip; grandchildren Ruby-Mae and Hadley, Lewis and Emily, Declan, Elsie and Layla; mother Brenda and brother Andrew.
His funeral will take place on Saturday, May 2 when Rev Dave Bartram will conduct a private service and committal at Burnley Crematorium. At some point later in the year a memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church to remember Mick.
The family have requested family flowers only please with donations if desired in lieu of flowers for the NHS via funeral director
