MRS Patricia Woodrup (known locally as Pat), of Tong Lane, Bacup died suddenly in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday, August 6, aged 71.

A short service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Monday, August 17 at 11.30am, followed by cremation at Burnley at 12.15pm, conducted by Mr Peter Goulding.

Pat was born in Bacup and lived there all of her life. She was employed in the cotton and shoe industries most of her working life. She was a keen bingo player but mainly enjoyed being surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves her loving husband John, who she met when they were both 14 years old, and married at the age of 21 allowing 51 years of happily married life

She also leaves children Christophe­r, Nicola and Leanne, son-in-law David, grandchild­ren Kelsey, Sammi, Teigan, Kaide and C-Jay, her sister Maureen, brother-in-law Bob and brother Garry.

He leaves his cousins Dave, Joyce and families, Aunty Iris and Sarah, along with all his friends at St James Church, Haslingden, where he will be sadly missed, and fondly remembered.

He worked as a moulder at John Woods

Engineerin­g, Ramsbottom, before retiring.

The funeral service was due to take place on Thursday, August 13, at 12.45pm at St James Parish Church, Haslingden followed by a committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by Fr David Stephenson.

MAUREEN HARGREAVES

MRS Maureen Hargreaves, of Edgeside Lane, Waterfoot, died on Sunday, . August 9 at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 80.

She worked as a solicitors clerk until she had to retire due to arthritis.

Maureen loved dogs and cats, enjoyed reading and doing crosswords, going to Majorca and Cleveleys for her holidays, and loved TV, especially Coronation Street and Emmerdale.

Wife of Alan, she was mother of Tracey, grandmothe­r of Katie and Becky, sister of Eileen, sister-in-law of David and Jack, and aunt of John, Jackie, Judith and Marilyn.

PEGGY Hardman died on Wednesday, August 5 after a short illness, aged 82.

She was the much loved mother of Paul, Ray, Andy, Chris and Julie, mother-inlaw of Diane, Gail, Pam, Linda and Richard, grandmothe­r of Jacob, Ben, Tom, Beth, James, Connor, Joseph, Jacob and Aaron, as well as great-grandmothe­r of Edward, Freddie, Alex and Ariana.

She also leaves her brothers Norman and Billy

MISS Sharon Simmons, of Holme Street, Stackstead­s died peacefully at home on Monday, August 3, aged 39.

She enjoyed cooking and gardening.

She leaves behind children Amy, Richard and Kinsey, mother Susan, brother Mark, step-brother and sister Michael and Sarah, friends Dan, Kevin and Vicki, and nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Monday, August 17, with a service at Hamer Private Chapel, followed by Burnley Crematoriu­m at 10am, led by Kath Unsworth.

After this, he took up crown green bowls - playing, initially, for Worsley Park, before playing for various clubs.

He looked after Haslingden BC, Rugby Road BC and Norden BC.

He was a sales rep for BUSM Bostic.

He leaves his wife Mrs Beatrice Lacey, children David and Graham, and their wives Janet and Jayne, and grandson Jonathan.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 11am at St James the Less RC Church, followed by interment at Rawtenstal­l Cemetery, led by Father Anthony McBride.
