WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

GOVERNMENT rejects call for 10pm pub curfew review after chaotic weekend scenes (web, September 28):

Sharon McNeill:

Just

CLOSE them

Ste Maddock: Until when? This could last for years Nick Ridgway: What about the staff? Or the owners who won’t be able to keep up with the rent? Most bars and restaurants are doing all they can by taking bookings and not letting too many people in etc. If the bars were operating normal hours then there wouldn’t be as many in the streets at one time.

Marian Rhodes: Simple answer. Keep them closed. Keith Trickett: These people want to get a grip. All alcohol should not be sold after 10pm. Same applies to takeaways.

THE Government is considering a near-total lockdown for the north of the UK (web, September 28):

Wayne Anthony O’Brien: Why is it just the north that seems to be getting all the flack, is suddenly other areas exempt from the virus?

Paul Mitchell: Think they have lost half the public, now half of people say it’s a government control ploy, god help us

Linsey Blunt: There is no point unless they close the schools

John Pitt: The last lockdown didn’t work did it? What’s the old adage about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?

Jade Stericker: Pubs, restaurants and bars. But not shops, schools, factories, offices. So I lose out on money purely based on the job I have? Either lockdown everyone or no one.

Stuart David: Utterly ridiculous, so you wouldn’t be able to mix with people in any indoor setting, but shops, schools, factories and offices would remain open! Just as confusing as ever!

Julie Rostron: Lancashire have 15,815 cases overall. Okay. And how many of those have now recovered and are safe and well.

Colin Treeman:

Unsurprising.

Micaela Gregson: So we started off with a lockdown then we were allowed out, then the government filled the restaurants Monday - Wednesday with half price food...let millions of people go abroad and punished them with self isolate for two weeks, let the students go to uni and take their fees, now not let them out and say it’s looking like they can’t go home for Christmas, then come out with a 10pm curfew, and now another lockdown is on the cards! It’s a joke!

TAXPAYERS could face £100,000 bill for the demolition of Waterside Mill in Bacup (September 25):

Vicky Roberts: Why can’t the owner be contacted? Jackie Oakes: The current owner apparently lives in Israel. The council is trying hard to recover the costs but we can’t leave the building in a dangerous condition. As for all the criticism of what the council is or isn’t doing - I’m not sure why anyone would think the council wouldn’t try every way possible to recover the costs. Some people just see conspiracy at every turn. Gary Cunliffe: Coming soon, plans for more homes. So much for that idea of saving this mill due to its history. All the while RBC twiddles its thumbs and lumber the tax payer with the bill.

Richard Stott: Let’s hope the council sell off the land after and recover some of the money.

Tracey Trickett: Why the hell do we have to pay for it!

Eileen Goddard: I wonder what will happen to the stone.

Joanne Emberga: Would be great for some leisure stuff for kids and adults with the space. Don’t need more houses.

Hilary Fairclough: The owner should be found and made to pay for their building to be demolished, not the public.

Kim Mitchell: Shouldn’t the owner pay for it?

Cathy Ashworth: Yes, recycle the Steel, Stone etc with eco friendly grants to build eco friendly housing, to raise the eco new housing quota.

CHILDCARE exemption announced for Lancashire local lockdown areas (web, September 21):

Wendy Ingham: Some common sense x

Janet O’Driscoll: Common sense has finally broken out. Grandparents care and helping out with childcare has been totally disregarded during this time, restrictions have meant hardship for both grandparents and children.

I’d rather my grandchildren are with me than any strangers and I’m delighted that I can now help out where needed. Ildiko Greenwood: Grandparents everywhere will be going “oh god no please not babysitting again give me a break” lol Donna Campbell: Thank God for that - didn’t want to break the rules but my daughters need to work Małgorzata Mokwa: Are we not doing lockdown all to protect the grandparents in the first place? And now they can work as babysitters? What’s the point?
