-

MR Ian Mawdsley, of Helmshore Road, Helmshore, passed away peacefully at home on

Sunday, September 20, aged 60, following a short illness.

A dearly loved husband to Diane and adoring dad of William, Joshua, Robert and Erica.

He lived his entire life in Helmshore and had many lifelong friends there.

He trained as a mechanical engineer from leaving school, and he worked at S S Stotts in Haslingden and later for Philips, Simonstone and more recently for Ennis-Flint in Chorley.

A natural, passionate, and competitive sportsman, he loved taking part in so many sports, excelling in them all, and played for teams in the Rossendale Badminton League and Parkwood Tennis Club, where he will be dearly missed. Ian had a lifelong love of music and photography and was often seen with a camera around his neck when out walking or on holidays, and family and friends will cherish the images he captured. A practical man and talented at DIY, he could transform redundant materials into works of art.

The funeral will be held on Friday, October 2, at 1.15pm at St Thomas’ Church, Helmshore, followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium for close family and friends only.

Anyone wishing to pay their respects are welcome to do so, respecting social distancing, outside the church and along Helmshore Road during the service and/or as the family leave for Accrington Crematorium.
