ROSSENDALE Radio has launched its annual Christmas toy and gift appeal to help those in need at this time.

The appeal, held in association with The Rossendale Community Support Network and Kids In Rossendale, will collect new toys and gifts at a number of collection points around the Valley.

The appeal will close on December 13. Toys and gifts collected will be distributed among people referred by organisations such as CAB, social services and other Valley charities.

Because of Covid-19, many people in the borough will be facing hardship at Christmas.

Presenter Peter Sweetmore said: “As the station has undergone a renaissance with a great new team of volunteers, launching the appeal was greeted by the whole team and it is hoped the good people of the Valley will buy toys and gifts to help those in need at this unfortunate time.”

Barry Hyde, chairman of The Rossendale Community Support Network, said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Rossendale Radio Christmas Toy & Gift Appeal.

“The Network was set up to support those in need in our community, and who better to help than our children, especially at Christmas time.

“The appeal is a great opportunity to make a difference to disadvantaged kids at Christmas.”

Current donation points are: Rossendale Radio Studios (Hardmans Mill, New Hall Hey); Tesco, Haslingden; Haslingden Community Link; Morrisons, Bacup; Trinity Baptist Church, Bacup; The Village Centre, Crawshawbooth; Rawtenstall Market, and more are due to follow.

If you can host a collection point, or wish to donate directly to Rossendale Radio, email studio@ rossendaleradio.com or call 07963 322966 to discuss.
