Rescued from river
FIRE crews carried out a rescue after a person fell into the river in Waterfoot.
Two fire engines from Rawtenstall and Nelson fire stations attended the incident on Burnley Road East on Monday, December 7 after being called out shortly before 5.45pm.
They were supported by a boat crew and a supporting fire engine from Penwortham fire station.
A fire service spokesperson said: “Firefighters used a triple extension ladder and lighting to rescue a casualty from the side of a river before assessing the individual. Paramedics were also in attendance. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately fifty minutes.”
