Inquest into death of woman adjourned

AN inquest looking into the death of a woman who died in a car crash has been opened.

Marukh Aslam was the front seat passenger of a black when it collided with a wall in Holcombe Brook on December 2.

The tragic incident happened on Bolton Road West at about 1.40am.

Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, 35-year-old Marukh, of Worsley Street, Radcliffe, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inquest into her death was opened at Rochdale Coroner’s Court on Friday, December 11.

It heard how the driver lost control while trying to negotiate a bend and the vehicle left the carriagewa­y.

The hearing has been adjourned for six weeks so the inquest can continue in line with any criminal proceeding­s.

Following the incident, a 44-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and police assault. She has since been released on bail.
