WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

Controversial Back Meadows planning application re-submitted (December 11):

John Swiatczak-Steele: The area doesn’t need any more housing. As an ex resident of Britannia the area was ruined by new housing, consuming the village into Bacup. It is a stunning area that doesn’t need ruining any further.

Gary Cunliffe: Oh look this again. “Lancashire Badger Group also raised concerns about the development as they said the ecology report failed to mention the badger sett on the site.” The same thing happened with the Spring Mill site in Whitworth, and now 119 houses will be built on it, all voted through by our local Labour councillors. and yet they get upset when you point that out.

Sharon Simcock:

Nobody wants homes in Bacup or any more in Rossendale. Hope someone will stand for the Green Party. Due to Labour just build on green land and Conservative just pop in for a photo shoot. Never listen to what us public might like or views. Jackie Oakes: Maybe you don’t think the area needs more housing but government quotas say we have to have it - so if you don’t want it here then you need to offer an alternative site that hasn’t already been allocated to housing. As I keep saying - if, under current legislation, officers recommend approval, then it’s very hard to go against that. Laura Marsden: There was wildlife on the land between Rochdale Road and New Line in Britannia. Badger setts and all sorts, but it didn’t stop them building on it, sadly. It was also a natural flood plain and now it’s been built on, my cellar lets in water during heavy rain.
