MR Vic Bayes, of Old Street, Waterfoot, passed away at Blackburn General Hospital on Monday, December 7, aged 81.

The loving husband of Shirley for 54 years and much-loved dad to son Paul, he had worked for the majority of his life for Rossendale Transport until he retired in 2004, where he was a keen member of the union.

He was a devoted family man and also enjoyed watching horse racing and listening to music.

Besides his wife and son, Vic leaves behind his sister Jean, sisters-in-law Freda and Eileen and brothers-in-law Raymond and Brian, along with many nephews and nieces.

A funeral service was due to take place at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Thursday, December 17, with Rev. David Burrow officiatin­g, attended by immediate family.

Donations can be made in Vic’s memory to the British Heart Foundation via Fred Hamer Funeral Service, James Street, Rawtenstal­l.

MRS Mavis Shiels, of Jubilee Court,

Haslingden, died on Tuesday, December 8, at Burnley General Hospital, aged 91.

Wife of the late Albert, she leaves son Duncan, daughter-in-law Deborah, and grandchild­ren Carrie and Antony, grandson-inlaw Pete and granddaugh­ter-in-law Tasha, together with great-grandchild­ren Bailey, Kian, Summer, Skye, Louis and William.

Well-known in Helmshore, Mavis ran a shop on Holcombe Road for many years.

She was a regular attendee, along with her husband Albert, at Rawtenstal­l Pensioners’ dancing events on Saturday nights.

The funeral will take place at 11.40am on Tuesday, December 22, with a service and cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by Rev. John Prior.

She was a member of the Barclays Pensioner Club and did voluntary driving for Lancashire County Council.

She leaves her nephew Sean, great-nephew Josh, cousin Anne and Godson Alistair Shottin.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, with a service at Hamers Funeral Home, James Street, followed by burial at Haslingden Cemetery.
