We’re in market for success
THIS column has banged the drum for Rawtenstall Market several times in recent months - and will do so again one last time (for this year).
The Sunday market last week was a wonderful event, with a mixture of regular stalls and new stalls too.
On Saturday, when the regular market was taking place, it felt busier than I’ve seen it in a long time, which hopefully bodes well for the future.
Last Sunday, too, Haslingden Market held a world food event, with a delicious array of food from around the world being cooked up.
Our markets are incredibly precious and special places, and ones we need to keep supporting to help them grow again.
In the case of Rawtenstall Market, new management of the market has yet to be confirmed.
The previous management team, who departed in the autumn after agreeing to lead support it for a year, have done a great job of reinvigorating the market.
2021 is a big year for our markets - we, as well as the council, will play a big part in making them successful.
