New Rover hits the road
ROSSENDALE Rovers is the new name for Rosso’s local buses in and around Rawtenstall, Bacup and beyond, with a new network delivering many improvements for the area from the New Year.
A partnership with Lancashire County Council will see the newly rebranded services launching from Monday, January 4, 2021.
Rosso said: “Newer, easy-access buses will be introduced on routes 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 as part of the new Rossendale Rovers network, with smart, customer-friendly features including audio-visual next stop announcements and contactless payments. We’ll also introduce more evening buses on the 464 to improve connections along the valley to and from the new-look Witchway coming in from Manchester and Burnley.
“The new Rossendale Rovers network will restore previously lost links between communities while also providing more buses, more often, to for key workers and students as well as for local residents out and about, visiting and shopping, along the valley.”
However, not everyone is a ‘fan’ of the rebrand. Tim Nuttall, of Waterfoot, joked: “Why aren’t they Rossendale Clarets? Yet another County Council ignorance about The Rossendale Valley!”
