Beauty spot parking row

-

BOSSES who shut visitors out from a popular beauty spot car park due to ‘nuisance behaviour’ have offered a compromise.

Rossendale council leader Alyson Barnes contacted United Utilities after gates were closed to drivers visiting Clowbridge Reservoir, suggesting it was a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Speaking on Monday afternoon she had tweeted: “I am up there every day and have not seen anything untoward. Shutting people out of the car park does not seem like the right thing to do. It punishes the majority who are using the facility properly. Can I ask that this is looked at again?”

A United Utilities spokesperson told the Free Press: “We are in the process of setting up a schedule of opening times at this site that works for all the recreational visitors and reduces the risk of anti-social behaviour.”
