Police tackle gang of youths at bus station

-

POLICE descended on a Valley bus station after a gang of teenagers were reportedly threatening staff and causing criminal damage.

Officers from Rossendale Police were deployed at Rawtenstall bus station to tackle the teenagers who were in breach of coronavirus lockdown rules.

In a social media statement, on January 11 Rossendale PSCOs said: “This group of teenagers have been causing criminal damage to the bus station and have been threatening staff. This behaviour will not be tolerated.

“As parents, please be aware of where your children are and what they are doing. Due to the current climate we are also concerned about your children bringing COVID19 back into your own households and affect your own families.”

A substantial amount of damage occurred in the toilets, and so bus station bosses have announced they will lock the toilets from 6pm preventing access to everybody. Police will increase patrols following a number of reports of anti-social behaviour and drug use, near Tesco, Rawtenstall, the Subway at the fire station roundabout and the Church of the Latter Day Saints.
