ARTHUR PICKLES

MR Arthur Pickles, of Crabtree Avenue, Edgeside, died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, January 6, aged 84.

A service will be carried out at Burnley Crematoriu­m on Friday, January 22 at 1.45pm, conducted by Mr Peter Goulding.

Born in Acre Mill, Stackstead­s, he moved to Edgeside after his marriage.

Arthur was employed as an accountant for many years prior to his retirement.

A noted artist and poet, some of which went on to be printed, he also enjoyed reading, walking, and giving lectures at the Bacup Natural History Society of which he was a member for many years.

He also lectured in several other northern towns. Husband of the late Amy and father to the late Barry, he leaves daughter Beverley, son Anthony, niece Nicola and her husband Michael and family.
