Choirs sing with one voice to lift spirits

TWO Valley choirs are about to issue a video aimed at uplifting anyone struggling in these strange times.

The Rossendale Male voice and Ladies choirs are to release their version of the 1980s charity single “We Are The World”, which had its world premiere in the Christmas concert they performed with the 2nd Rossendale Scout Band.

Musical Director Matthew Thomas said the concert, in aid of Rossendale Hospice, raised a “brilliant” total in excess of £1,500.

“This version though is more a message of love and hope for anyone who may be struggling, either with lockdown, illness, food poverty or any of the other problems which are aggravated by the pandemic,” he added.

“We’d like everyone to look us up on Facebook, watch the video and send it to anyone they think might need a lift.

“Like other choirs, the ladies and gents have had to record their own part on their phones and send it to our website manager, Peter Ormerod, who did a fantastic job in knitting them all together.”
