HUNDREDS of customers reported infuriating power cuts.

One major incident on Monday evening into Tuesday morning, January 19, impacted more than 800 homes.

Fed up residents have taken to social media in recent days to report frustration.

One customer said: “It was going on and off all evening, but only for a short amount of time. Then the alarms on the street were going off. It would be interesting to find out why we keep getting power surges up in Sharneyford.”

An Electricity North West (ENW) spokesman said: “We received reports of a power cut affecting 820 properties in Bacup on

Monday at 11.16pm which was caused by a fault with an underground electricity cable.

“Within the hour, engineers were able to remotely restore power to 560 properties and the remaining 260 properties were restored at 1.20am after engineers carried out the necessary repair on site.”
