Hope market traders get break from thefts
WHEN we’re all supposed to be at home during a lockdown – yet somehow, market stalls on Rawtenstall Market have been broken into twice in the past couple of weeks.
Several of the food stalls have been targeted twice in the last couple of weeks – for some of them, the second break in caused such damage they had to shut and lost part of the weekends takings.
The market stall holders on Rawtenstall are a wonderful group of people, who have worked ever so hard to reinvent the market in recent years. The arrival of the food stalls has been a major enhancement, turning the market into an evening destination too. Fortunately, all involved are able to reopen this weekend and have been flooded with support on social media.
Hopefully, this is the last time there will be a break in on the market. In the meantime, maybe we can all make an effort of really trying to support the markets in the weekends ahead.
