DIANE Dunleavy, of Barker Court, Bacup, died at Fairfield Hospital on Saturday, January 16, aged 68.

She was a machinist at Raj Upholstery before she took early retirement.

Diane enjoyed pottering in the garden, attending to her many plants and flowers, and being with her dog, especially in the sun.

She leaves daughter Donna, son Paul, granddaugh­ter Emily, and son-in-law Mick.

A Celebratio­n of Life service will be held at Knight & Boys Funeral Home on Monday, February 1, at 10am, led by Philip Norris, followed by burial at Bacup Cemetery at 10.45am.

Due to Covid restrictio­ns numbers allowed at the service are limited. Regrettabl­y, therefore, the service will be for family only. Flowers welcome.

ANNIE JONES

MRS Annie Jones nee Ashworth, of Clayton-leMoors, died suddenly at home on Thursday, January 21, aged 83.

She was the much loved wife of Harold for 61 years, mum of Derek and Jennifer, mother-in-law to

Tracy and Jay, grandma to Louise, Sarah, Alistair and Hannah, great-grandma to Isabelle, Matilda, Alice and Emily, and sister of the late Derek and late Frank. Born in Lumb, she began work at Elgin’s Sewing Manufactur­er in Burnley, where she became a qualified designer and pattern maker. After taking time out to have a family she then worked as a pastry chef and was then employed by Norweb where she became the assistant manager at the Rawtenstal­l branch.

Before her retirement, along with her husband, Annie owned and ran a post office/newsagent business.

Annie was a very active member of the WI for over 60 years and she served as president of her local branch on numerous occasions during that time. She was also a long serving committee member of the Friends of Rossendale Hospital where she was always very much involved in their fundraisin­g activities. Her main hobby was ‘crafting’ and dressmakin­g which she was very talented at, her baking was also legendary in the family. She had a sense of adventure and loved to travel, enjoying lots of caravan trips and holidays around the world. Most of all she adored spending time with her grandchild­ren and little great-granddaugh­ters.

She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family and friends.
