RETIRED joiner and funeral director Mr

Harold Woods, of Lacey Court, Haslingden, died on Friday, January 8, aged 92.

Mr Woods ran his own business from the Black Bull Yard, Haslingden, for many years, until the merger of the local firms into Johnson, Durning and Woods. He was well known in the town.

He was a member of Haslingden Methodist Church. He was an amateur cricketer in his youth and continued to follow Lancashire League cricket throughout his life. Aside from sport, he was a keen aquirist, keeping tropical fish all his life.

Married to the late Sheila for 58 years, he leaves children Roger, Alison, and John, daughters-in-law Joan and Madeleine, son-inlaw Roger, six grandchild­ren, and 10 great-grandchild­ren.

A service will be conducted by Rev Louise Makin at Accrington Crematoriu­m on Tuesday, February 2, but attendance will be limited to family members only because of the coronaviru­s regulation­s. The family hope to hold a thanksgivi­ng service for his life later in the year when circumstan­ces permit.

MR James Hardicker, of Baxenden, known and loved to many as Jim, sadly passed away in hospital on Friday, January 15, aged 80.

Jim was born in 1940, spending a happy childhood growing up on his parents’ farm in Ribchester.

He married his late wife Mary in 1970 moving to Stonefold Village, then moved to Hen Heads Farm, Baxenden, where he settled into married life, farming beef cattle and sheep, along with many free range hens that roamed freely around the farm. He spent many hours and days dry stone walling, a passion that had been passed down to him from his father, as well as taking on many roofing jobs for local farmers in the area.

He leaves many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews and godchildre­n and will be fondly remembered for his big smile and warm heart.

A Requiem Mass will take place on Friday, February 5, at 10am at St Mary’s RC Church, Haslingden, officiated by Fr. John Broadley, following a burial at Haslingden Cemetery where he will be reunited with his wife Mary.

Bob played cricket for Rawtenstal­l for many years, and was captain for over five years in the 1960s. He enjoyed playing golf and going on long walks with friends.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Husband of the late Olive, he leaves daughter Lesley, son-in-law Jim, granddaugh­ters Louise and Linda, their husbands Keiron and Michael, and five great-grandchild­ren Beth, Troy, Abby, Chloe, and Zak.

The funeral will be held on Monday, February 1, at 9.15am at Burnley Crematoriu­m, led by Neil Overton.

Funeral director: Dawn Winfield for Fred Hamer, Rawtenstal­l. music. He travelled and worked all over the world. He recently started researchin­g his family ancestry.

Barry was a member of The Royal British Legion, British Army Royal Engineers, and the Royal Antediluvi­an Order of Buffaloes.

He leaves wife Iriz, children Richard, Princess, Kris, Alex, Craig, Jovi, Orix, and Sultan.
