Police alert drivers of theft bids

-

POLICE have warned Ford Fiesta drivers of a spate of attempted thefts.

Officers said a

Ford Fiesta ST was stolen from the Haslingden area on Saturday, January 30, and believe the model is being targeted by thieves, who are committing the crime using a technique that does not require the keys.

A spokesperson on the Rossendale Police Facebook page wrote: “We have located another Ford Fiesta ST in the Edenfield area which had been interfered with in an attempt to steal it.

“If you own one of these vehicles please take extra care around security as they appear to be a target in our area at present.

“The vehicle in Haslingden was recoded which allowed the offenders to take the vehicle without the keys. This is something we are seeing more and more of.”

They recommended that vehicle owners can prevent the code being obtained from their key by placing it in a Faraday cage.
