-

ONE of the Valley’s biggest and best-known firms has wished a fond farewell to one of its long-standing colleagues.

Financial director John Lee, a big Burnley FC supporter, retired from B&E Boys after 20 years on January 29.

Before joining the company, John had spent nine years working for J & E Transport, Haslingden, followed by 23 years with Ben Barnes, Rawtenstall.

John began his two-decade stint with Boys as co-secretary, but within 12 months he had become financial director.

As the only non-family director in the group, John he was very proud to be offered the prestigious position.

Away from work John’s main passion is Burnley FC.

As the three Boys brothers are all avid Burnley fans too, John still believes his love for the Clarets was what tipped the scales in his favour at his interview! Loyal worker John is looking forward to enjoying time with family, chilling, and more football.

Everyone at the Waterfoot-based firm has congratulated him and wished him well with his retirement.

Director Peter Boys said: “We’ve had many happy times with John as finance director; the only non-family member so far to be appointed formally in the role.

“John quickly gained the respect of everyone we work with and has proved time without number to be one of the most upstanding gentlemen we know.

“We also cannot thank John’s wife Ann enough for her part and support in lending us her husband all these years!”
