Our MPs need to stand up for us in cash battle

-

ALL in all, the council tax debate is a little tiresome, and quickly descends into political rows.

What we really need is for our county’s MPs to stand up and be counted for local councils, in Westminster.

Local Conservative

MPs will point to the many millions of pounds in additional funding councils have received to provide Covid and lockdown related services. But surely, that’s a grownup government doing what it should do - not something which should be celebrated as going above and beyond.

The pandemic has surely taught us the importance of local services run by local experts.

They surely deserve more support in the future, not have more cuts foisted on them.

James Daly, Jake Berry and Sara Britcliffe are our three local MPs who are the people who can make a difference.

They can stand up and be counted for local councils and demand more money for the services we rely on - the services we are now pay more for as Government continues to chip in less.

That’s what levelling up should mean. If, of course, it means anything at all.
