Police sniff out drug farm
A HIDDEN cannabis farm was raided by police - thanks to a ‘strong smell’.
Taking to Facebook to share pictures of the haul, Rossendale Police officers revealed a ‘small’ haul of cannabis plants along with specialist lighting equipment.
Neighbours near the property on Market Street in Whitworth reported a ‘strong smell of cannabis’ emanating from the building.
PCSO Heidi Kirkbright said the electricity meter had also been ‘tampered with’ causing a danger to neighbouring residential properties.
In a statement on the Rossendale Police Facebook page on
Monday evening, February 15, she said: “After reports from local residents regarding a strong smell of cannabis, a small cannabis set has been found at an address on Market Street, Whitworth. Not only was there a set up, but the electric meter had been tampered with causing a danger to neighbouring properties.”
