JOHN BROWN
MR John Brown, of Blackburn Road, Haslingden, died at Burnley General Hospital on Wednesday, February 10, aged 79.
Known to all as Jack and a life-long Haslingden resident, he attended St Mary’s RC Primary School and then St Mary’s College, Blackburn.
On leaving school he trained as a printer, serving his apprenticeship at Shepherd and Markham, Bacup and later working as a compositor at the Rochdale Observer before retiring from work due to ill health.
A much-loved husband, father and grandfather, Jack’s interests included dog-walking, cricket, rugby league, reading and real ale.
He leaves behind his wife of 53 years Mary, son Alan, brother George, and grandchildren Stevie-Rose and Marnie.
His daughter Karen predeceased him in 2012.
The funeral will be held on Monday, March 1, at 1.30pm at St James’ Church, Haslingden, followed by burial at Haslingden Cemetery at 2.15pm, officiated by Fr. Andrew Holmes. Due to current covid guidelines numbers are restricted.
