“Increasing numbers of people are quitting for the huge improvement it makes to their health and quality of life,” he says.
“You don’t need alcohol to relax and unwind.
“The pleasure for daily drinkers is no more than the relieving of withdrawal caused by previous drinks.
“Alcohol is a sedative, so your brain becomes hypersensitive to counter this.
“When the alcohol wears off, this over sensitisation remains, leaving you anxious.”
