WITH schools preparing to reopen to all pupils from next week the head of The Valley Leadership Academy, Stacksteads has thanked pupils, parents and staff for their “phenomenal” efforts during lockdown.

After the latest lockdown was confirmed, the school arranged for a full timetable of remote, online lessons to be immediately delivered to pupils learning from home. Further measures were taken to accommodate the children of key workers and those from vulnerable families, who were due to attend lessons in person, at the school site.

Regular chess, live baking sessions, and newspaper clubs were all among activities held virtually to help pupils stave off lockdown boredom.

Executive principal Andy O’Brien said: “The efforts of our pupils, parents and staff have been truly phenomenal and are a demonstration of the wonderful community that exists here at The Valley Leadership Academy. We are very excited to be able to welcome all pupils back to the school site from March 8, and look forward to helping them as they continue on their learning journeys.”
