Flash in sky ... and lights go out
THIS is the dramatic moment a huge flash lit up the sky above a town.
Some 1,431 properties in Ramsbottom were plunged into darkness due to a power cut on Tuesday.
The mysterious flash was captured on dashcam footage by a motorist shortly before 7.15am.
It showed the driver passing through the junction with Dundee Lane before the sky ahead to the north east is suddenly illuminated with a dazzling flash of light.
Electricity North West (ENW) later confirmed a power cut had hit houses and businesses in the BL0 postcode area. Engineers were sent out to fix the problem. It was also reported to have affected traffic and street lights in the area.
ENW said power was restored to more than 1,300 properties no later than 2.30pm, and they were working to restore power to the remaining properties affected.
