MR David Crabtree, of Fernhill Crescent, Stackstead­s, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 19, aged 84.

Born and raised in Bacup, David moved to St Albans, where he worked as an apprentice, then aircraft engineer at De Havillands in Hatfield.

He continued to work in engineerin­g and returned to Haslingden then back to Bacup, living in Stackstead­s for the last 40 years.

David became a senior lecturer in engineerin­g in Manchester before retiring.

His hobbies included modelling trains, aeroplanes, buses and all types of transport vehicles.

He was also involved in the Air Training Corp and with the 2nd Rossendale Scout band.

David enjoyed travelling the world, but mainly loved being surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his wife Janet, sons Christophe­r, Nicholas, Nigel and

David, their wives and 10 grandchild­ren.

Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph’s and St Peter’s RC Church, Newchurch on Friday, October 29 at 11am, followed by interment in Bacup Cemetery at 12noon, conducted by Father P Boast.

Family flowers only; donations in lieu if so desired to Rossendale Hospice or to St Joseph’s and St Peter’s RC Church, Newchurch.
