Valley will pay tribute to fallen

- STUART PIKE stuart.pike@menmedia.co.uk @stuartpike78

THE borough will once again come together in person to remember our fallen at services and parades to mark Remembrance Sunday.

Following discussions with various bodies, the Valley’s traditional parades through Bacup, Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Whitworth, and Helmshore – will go ahead as usual this year, with Rossendale council support.

Dawn Taylor, secretary of Rawtenstall Remembrance Parade, confirmed that proposed works on Rawtenstall Town Square - due to commence on November 1 have been postponed by two weeks and the parade will go ahead from the town square as usual.

Last November - with the country in lockdown - the public were encouraged to stay away from cenotaphs and public gatherings, instead holding two-minute silences on their doorsteps to recognise the sacrifices made by our sailors, soldiers, airmen and civilians during conflict.
