‘Bird of prey’ rescued

FIREFIGHTERS rescued ‘a bird of prey’ that had been trapped in a tree.

A fire engine from Bacup attended Westgate Close in Whitworth shortly after 10.05am on Friday, October 22.

Crews said the bird had become trapped in the branches of a tree approximately 15m above the ground.

Firefighters released the animal using a 13.5m ladder and were in attendance for around 90 minutes.
