ASERIES of drawing and painting activities formed the latest in a string of cultural events across the Valley’s towns.

Arts and events company Culturapedia organised the artistic projects in Rawtenstall’s market, library and on Bank Street on Thursday, October 28.

Drawn to Rawtenstall followed the Bacup Inspires project the previous week - based around that town’s market and town centre.

Rossendale council has planned the series of events, to attract people back to the town centres after the tough last 18 months faced by businesses and backed by the government’s ‘Welcome Back Fund’.

They will be back in Haslingden this month with Haslingden Food Heroes.

From Sunday, November

14, there will be a trail of photos and stories around the town featuring an exhibition of clay pies made by the community with artist Emma Long.

These are based on the famous Cissy Green’s pies, but with some highly original fillings!

And on Sunday,

November 28, there will be live entertainment at the Grub Bazaar at Haslingden Market and in the courtyard of the Dearden Tea Rooms.

Robert Howell, director of Culturapedia, said: “We’re enjoying our work in Rossendale, helping to bring people back to the high street.”
