HOPE THIS IS POSITIVE SIGN

IT was pleasing to read about the cash boost for the possibility of restoring Rossendale’s rail link, (‘Cash boost for move to restore Valley

rail line’, November 5).

I think Jake Berry is spot on in saying that Mayor Burnham needs to be on board, especially as there are some in the rail industry who consider the link impractical.

I was also pleased to see LCC taking an interest in the proposed rail link.

Because I got the distinct impression that, when the X41 bus service was under threat of withdrawal, LCC showed scant interest in seeking to retain it.

I hope this signals a positive approach to the valley’s future transport needs by County Hall. David Mathias Helmshore Road, Haslingden
